"Star Trek" actor Chris Pine has revealed what excited him about Patty Jenkins' forthcoming DC Comics film "Wonder Woman."
Pine is set to play the role of Steve Trevor, Wonder Woman's love interest, in Jenkins' upcoming film. In his interview with French website Premiere.fr (via Batman-News), Pine said that with a woman in the lead role, he was team with this intelligent, beautiful, and strong woman to defeat the villains and save humanity.
In July, Pine was reported to be in the middle of two different roles in DC's Cinematic Universe - Trevor and Hal Jordan for DC's forthcoming "Green Lantern Corps." The "Star Trek" actor turned down the latter and had agreed to have his DC debut alongside Gal Gadot, who is playing Princess Diana of Themyscira, also known as Wonder Woman.
According to Cinema Blend, Pine's Trevor would be part the film's action, though the character might be seen as a guy in distress. The publication also said that Trevor would be able to do things in his own ways because he was a skilled military man; but then, he should let the Amazonian princess take down the magical beings along the way.
While it is certain that Gadot will be seen in character in Zack Snyder's forthcoming "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," it has not been confirmed whether Trevor will be seen in the film. prior to her solo "Wonder Woman" film, Gadot is set to share the screen with Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher, Jesse Eisenberg, and Amy Adams, among others, in Snyder's film.
Aside from Jenkins' "Wonder Woman," Pine will also reprise his role as Kirk in Justin Lin's sci-fi film "Star Trek Beyond" and "Star Trek 4." He is set to be part of Craig Gillespie's adventure drama "The Finest Hours" and David Mackenzie's crime drama "Comancheria."
Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is set to be aired in two separate teasers on Oct. 26 while the film is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on Mar. 25, 2016. Meanwhile, Jenkin's "Wonder Woman" hits theaters on June 23, 2017. Lin's "Star Trek Beyond" premieres on July 22, 2016 while "Green Lantern Corps" hits the big screen on June 19, 2020.
