Live video streaming service Periscope recently released an update for the iOS and Android version of the app. The update includes an overhauled Global Map and the ability to skip on replays.

According to Slash Gear, the new Periscope update also includes 3D Touch shortcuts for iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus devices. The shortcuts include Teleport, Search People, Broadcast and Broadcast Mutuals. Devices running on Android platform will receive the pinch-to-zoom feature.

Many tech analysts consider the latest Periscope update as a major one. The most notable inclusion on the update is the improvement of Global Map. The feature was first introduced in June, but it has some limitations back then.

The upgraded version of Global Map allows users to zoom in on a new place on the map. Once zoomed in, Periscope will pull up all broadcasts taking place in that particular area. Results will also include replays from the last 24 hours, which makes it easier for users to track things that they might have missed.

To avoid confusion, live broadcasts are represented by red dots while replay of broadcasts are represented by blue dots.

The new skip-ahead feature allows users to fast forward through replays in order to watch the part that they are interested in. Using the skip feature is as easy as tapping the screen while the replay is in progress and dragging it to the desired instance.

According to Tech Crunch, Periscope update will also reveal more livestreams when doing a search. Previous version of the app only shows a maximum of 250.
