Ian Somerhalder, St. Tammany Parish Louisiana native and mega superstar of The CW's supernatural drama "The Vampire Diaries" recently gave his new insight on success, his marriage to Nikki Reed, IS Foundation, and his campaign to get millennial to the polls this Saturday in the Gubernatorial and Lt Governor's election.
The superstar is very excited about "The Vampire Diaries" season 7, which is still in development outside Atlanta. Somerhalder gives his perspective on how the end of season 6 has built to new heights this season, according to WGNO. Somerhalder teased that "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 episode 10 will open a new dimension for his character, Damon Salvatore.
The publication revealed that Somerhalder's wife, Nikki Reed, accompanied her husband to the Twist studios. Somerhalder opened up and gave fans a glimpse of his marriage to the 27-year-old Twilight star. The couple shares a love for animals and the environment.
Reportedly, Somerhalder became the first celebrity to see the devastating effects of the BP oil spill off the coast of Louisiana five years ago. During the catastrophe, Somerhalder immediately got involved assisting experts with the effect on wildlife and marshes.
According to a different report from the same publication, the star spoke out against the proposed fracking in St. Tammany Parish.
Somerhalder said, "The fracking process does not lend itself to being in an environment that is considered a wetland. The aquifer that feeds this area is the same aquifer that is threatened by hydraulic fracking."
Currently, the Ian Somerhalder Foundation pushes forward with its mission to empower, enlighten, and collaborate with people and projects to positively impact on the planet and its creatures.
With regard to the star's upcoming 37th birthday on Dec. 8, Somerhalder has a special birthday request.
