It is not safe for women to stay on top of men while having sex, according to a recent study.
Titled "Mechanisms Predisposing Penile Fracture and Long-Term Outcomes on Erectile and Voiding Functions," the study published in the Advances in Urology journal found out that sexual intercourse with "woman on top" is "the potentially riskiest sexual position related to penile fracture."
In addition, the study found that among the 42 men who suffered penile fracture, 28 were having heterosexual sex while four were having homosexual sex. Also, six of the cases were caused by "penis manipulation" and four were a result of "unclear circumstances."
Other sexual positions were also found to be responsible for the suspected penile fractures, 29 percent of which were because of doggy-style and 21 percent because of missionary.
Conducted at three hospitals in Campinas, Brazil, the study tried to find out the mechanisms affecting penile fracture by looking at men in their mid-30s over a period of 13 years.
The study hypothesized that with her entire body weight, a woman on top controls the movement during sexual intercourse landing on the erect penis, which when suffers a wrong way penetration cause major pain in the man.
In 2000, a film titled "Woman On Top" featured a story of a Brazilian chef who moved to San Francisco when her motion sickness frustrated her husband that caused him on her. The woman with motion sickness was played by Penelope Cruz, who was declared the Sexiest Woman Alive by Esquire in October 2014.
