"Fast & Furious 8" will not hit the theaters until next summer, which implies that there is enough time to uncover and redesign Universal's franchise before releasing another spin.

A major aspect that is undergoing a huge overhaul is the movie's villain, as it appears that Dominic Toretto and his team will be facing down a female antagonist.

Although viewers expected to see the return of Jason Statham and his friend Deckard Shaw, it seems that early word surrounding F. Gary Grey's series would peg a "lone female" as the cause of the "Fast & Furious 8" team's miseries.

According to Deadline, Academy Award winner Charlize Theron, who had initially worked with Grey in the 2003's "The Italian Job," is the best candidate for the role.

Being one of the first Hollywood movies to shoot in Cuba, or creating the largest explosion in Iceland was not sufficient to keep the blood flowing through "Fast & Furious 8's" veins, and quite frankly, this is a great way to up the wow factor. Theron can be a vicious villain on either side of the spectrum, since she has both based it up in "Snow White and The Huntsman." Theron brought a delicate menace to her award winning turn as Aileen Wuornos in "Monster."

As a result, playing the so far unnamed vehicular villain possibly sits right in the best spot of the continuum, which is what excited the crowd in her more heroic role as Furiosa in "Mad Max: Fury Road."

However, there is always the bad side of every great rumor. Casting Theron the lone villain of the upcoming movie implies that Helen Mirren's hopes to play the Shaw family matriarch will not come true, according to Cinema Blend. There are high chances that Theron's character could yet be another member of the Shaw brood, mist likely Jason Statham's sister, a move that would open an opportunity for Mirren to come into picture in either "Fast 9" or "Fast 10" posed as Mother Shaw.

In addition, the move would make "Italian Job" reunion more inclusive, leaving the ball in Grey's court to have Mark Wahlberg return as the black sheep or good guy of the family in one of the subsequent sequels.
