Since they were not able to revive the boy, the first responders transported him to Clarinda Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead 50 minutes later.

On Jan. 23, Friday, the boy's father Xavier Mildward shared a photo of his son on his Facebook account with a caption, "I love you so much my baby boy."

Both of the dogs, a 35-pound male and a 25-pound female, were mixed-breeds with some bulldog heritage but neither would be considered a pit bull, Page County Sheriff Lyle Palmer told the Omaha World-Herald.

The dogs had shown no signs of aggression before they were euthanized along with another dog, which is a bulldog type, owned by the family but was not involved in the attack that killed the boy.

According to Palmer, the boy played outside the house with the dogs several times and there had not been any problems.

Nobody witnessed the attack and no arrests or charges have been declared. According to authorities, the boy might have gone outside to play with the dogs as he often did the attack took place.

Six months before the attack, the victim's mother posted on Facebook a photo of what she called "Pitbull English bulldog pups."
