Apple has rescheduled its first major event of 2016. Instead of March 15, the event will now be hosted on March 21, a day ahead of its showdown with FBI.
Earlier, it was announced that the Cupertino-based tech titan will host a launch event on March 15. Now, the event has been postponed by a week to March 21, just a day ahead of the company's showdown with the U.S. government over a court directive to Apple to assist investigators in hacking an iPhone used by one of the San Bernardino terrorists.
"Apple allegedly have sent notifications to leave the schedule available from the 21st to 23rd, making us guess that the event will occur a week after the original known date," Underkg reported. The report further stated that the event will now be held on a smaller scale compared to the last one at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco.
It is expected that Apple will unveil its new 4-inch iPhone, dubbed as iPhone SE, a smaller version of iPad Pro and new Apple Watch bands on the occasion. Latest rumors suggest that the new 4-inch iPhone will incorporate most of the features of iPhone 6S, BuzzFeed reported.
Earlier reports claimed that the new 4-inch Apple smartphone will be named iPhone 5se; however, latest report suggested that the Cupertino-based tech company will drop "5" from the name and simply call it iPhone SE. The device is expected to feature an A9 Processor, 12-megapixel camera, Live Photos and NFC to enable Apple Pay. However, unlike the iPhone 6S, iPhone SE will not feature 3D Touch.
The design of the iPhone SE will be similar to that of iPhone 5s, but it will have a curved display similar to that of the iPhone 6S. According to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has correctly predicted many Apple product launches in the past, the new iPhone will carry a price tag of $400-$500.
The company is also expected to unveil a 9.7-inch iPad on the event. It is expected that the smaller version of iPad Pro will feature a Smart Connector as well as a new keyboard built. As of now, it is not certain whether Apple will add the new iPad to its "Pro" or "Air" line.
