It seems that custody battle of her son has taken a toll on Madonna. The singer had a public emotional meltdown while performing in Auckland, New Zealand on March 5, Saturday.

The Queen of Pop choked back tears during the New Zealand stop of her Rebel Heart Tour as she spoke about her teenaged son Rocco Ritchhie, who is presently living away from her with his father in London.

"There is no love stronger than a mother for her son. And if I talk about him too much...I might cry," said the 57-year-old singer while addressing the thousands of concertgoers before fighting back her tears, New Zealand Herald reported.

Madonna had to pause and take a deep breath before she could continue and dedicate her song "La Vie en Rose" to the 15-year-old.

Madonna's breakdown comes after the news that she has almost lost custody of her teenage son to her ex-husband Guy Ritchie.

"She's basically accepted she's not getting Rocco back," an insider told Page Six before further adding that the singer is hoping to get him back atleast for one weekend per month.

The case was last heard in Manhattan Supreme Court on March 2, Wednesday, wherein the singer and her former husband listened in by phone. Her lawyer debated to hold Guy to be held in contempt for not bringing Rocco back to Manhattan to settle the dispute. However, the judge refused to issue the warrant saying that both the parents have chosen to lead a very public life whereas their son has not.

It was reported back in December 2015 that Rocco has abandoned the Rebel Heart world tour and went to stay with his father in London. The teenager reportedly did not even spend the Christmas with his mother and opted to continue living in London, a place where he feels home life is more stable.

The turmoil in Madonna's personal life seemingly has now started taking a toll on her work as well. Not only the singer allegedly kept her fans waiting at her second Vector Arena concert before finally appearing on stage 90 minutes late, the fans were also disappointed in what seemed to be her drunken performance.
