Cartoon network has not yet made an official announcement about "Steven Universe" Season 2, but videos of the upcoming episodes are already leaking online. Rumors are also suggesting that Lapis Lazuli may end up joining the Crystal Gems in "Steven Universe."
According to Comic Book, Season 2's story will still be centered on Crystal Gems. It will also feature the same characters featured in "Steven Universe" Season 1.
One of the leaked video clips dubbed "Barn Mates" shows Lazuli saving Peridot and Steven with her supernatural powers. It also discloses that Season 2 may end up revolving around Lazuli and Peridot's budding friendship.
The clip starts with Lazuli standing close to a broken gadget. Steven appears sad at this moment, with the possible cause being that the broken gadget was a gift from Peridot to Lazuli who broke it after rejecting it. He is also concerned that Peridot may never return for the same reason.
It is at this juncture that Peridot comes back running with a spaceship pursuing her. The three "Steven Universe" characters immediately run to take shelter in a neighboring shelter, but the spaceship keeps dashing after them. With no other options left, Steven decides to strike back, but then again, before he does, Lazuli destroys the enemy with her supernatural powers.
This proves that despite rejecting her gift, Lazuli would still save and protect Peridot. Another recent clip named "Yellow Diamond Appears" revealed of the promising friendship between Lazuli and Peridot hinting that the storyline may turn out to revolve around them.
According to Toonova, "Steven Universe" Season 1 happenings already reveal that Crystal Gem will have a new member, and according to rumors, it may be Lazuli herself. Details from Season 1 show that there is an obscurity of whether the Crystal Gems certainly trapped Lazuli in the mirror although she already suspects them. She may, therefore, proceed to find the gem who exactly did it using the Crystal Gems.
The last season also revealed that Peridot became a member of the Crystal Gems after fighting with Yellow Diamond. Considering that Lazuli may become her friend, then she too may become a member of the Crystal Gem.
