"Star Fox 64" is arriving at an enticing price of only $6.34, after which the discount will get scrapped off to sell at $12.7, Digital Spy reported. This is not the first time for the game to have a re-release. The latest release dates back to 2011 when a modified version of it got developed for the 3DS.

"Star Fox 64" saw its original release in 1997 and grabbed the attention of many gamers. It received extensive critical acclaim, earning the phrase of "instant classic" and getting a positive appraisal.

The game then got another release on the Wii Virtual console in April 2007. Even though it got described as a "simple game by today's standards," critics still thought that the fun of the game had withstood the tests of time while offering some thrills.

What is more, "Star Fox 64" was remade for the Nintendo 3DS as well, producing a version that earned 7.5 out of 10 in Game Spot's review. As stated by a renowned game reviewer Carolyn Petit, the game would not disappoint anyone who wished to try out its space-faring adventure.

On Nintendo's side, this year's re-release is just a reminder to gamers about the "Star Fox" franchise, which has reasonably remained dormant in the recent years. "Star Fox Assault" was the very last entry on consoles, unveiling on the Gamecube of 2005, before a portable byproduct "Star Fox Command" landed on Nintendo NS in 2006.

The next game in the franchise, "Star Fox Zero" is expected on April 21 for the Wii U. It was developed by Platinum Games, the studio responsible for highly praised games like "Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance," "Bayonetta," and "The Wonderful 101."

"Star Fox Zero" will come along in the same bundle with "Star Fox Guard," a standalone game featuring Slippy Toad's uncle. In the meantime, fans can enjoy the released Wii U version of "Star Fox 64."
