"The Vampire Diaries" alum Nina Dobrev is rumored to join The CW show's spinoff "The Originals" next season.

According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, the 26-year-old actress is considering the offer to star on the show as her way to get revenge on her ex-boyfriend Ian Somerhalder.

If this rumor will be proven to be true, Dobrev will play the role of Tatia Petrova.

According to the publication, it will be a good move Dobrev's career if she accepts the offer primarily because she is also a good addition to the cast.

However, the idea that she may want to get revenge from her ex-boyfriend may not necessarily sit well with fans.

"Fingers crossed that Nina Dobrev does entertain any offers that come in from 'The Originals.' She would be an amazing addition to the cast and seeing her outdo 'The Vampire Diaries' with her ex Ian Somerhalder would be sweet, sweet revenge for him moving on and marrying Nikki Reed," the publication noted.

Meanwhile, the publication also revealed that Dobrev can play the role of a doppelganger instead of Elena Gilbert. On "The Vampire Diaries," the actress gave life to the character of Elena for six seasons.

However, Elena is currently in a deep slumber, and waking her up from it would take a very long time.

If Dobrev will play the role of the doppelganger Tatia, she can definitely add more spice to the show especially in relation to Klaus and Elijah. In the past, the Mikaelson brothers had the hots for the mysterious female character.

"If you know your 'TVD' history, she was the first doppelganger and her magical blood made 'The Originals' into vamps, so she's a natural choice. If you recall, Elijah killed her after he turned her vampy and then her blood was used to hold back Klaus' werewolf side," the publication continued.

As of late, this rumor has not yet been confirmed, and it's also possible that Dobrev will not really be part of "The Originals." What could be a possibility, on the other hand, is the fact Dobrev can return to "The Vampire Diaries" for its final episode.

"The Originals" airs Fridays at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
