"Grey's Anatomy" Season 12 episode 17 is titled "I Wear the Face" and focuses on Owen (Kevin McKidd) and Nathan's (Martin Henderson) storyline. In the upcoming segment, the show brings out the truth about Owen's hatred towards his fellow doctor at the Grey Sloan Memorial hospital. In episode 16, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Will (Scott Elrod) finally go on a date and spend the night together at Meredith's. However, in the morning, things take an unexpected turn when Meredith has a nervous breakdown. Meanwhile, Sofia suffers head laceration and she is admitted to Grey Sloan Memorial hospital. Maggie (Kelly McCreary) questions Andrew's (Giacomo Gianniotti) intentions and if he really wants to date her or not. Elsewhere, Catherine (Debby Allen) decides to take April to the court for a custody battle.
"Grey's Anatomy" Season 12 episode 17 will shift its focus a bit and explore Nathan and Owen's backstory revealing what happened before that led to enmity between the two. Also, it may see the first appearance of Stephanie's new love interest.
According to the synopsis for "I Wear the Face, as published on ABC's official website, Meredith will be the one to discover the reason why Owen loathes Nathan. Meredith, Owen and Nathan will take a trip together in an ambulance to collect a heart for the upcoming transplant surgery. It appears it all happens during their trip to the other hospital.
A promo video for "Grey's Anatomy" Season 12 teases what happens in the ambulance. Fans saw Amelia break Owen's heart in the previously aired episode as she finds out Owen drinks and he may not be able to help her stay sober. However, it turns out, Nathan is to be blamed for Amelia's fears.
In the trailer, when Owen and Meredith are discussing Amelia and her drinking issues, Nathan confesses of buying Amelia a drink.
"Shepherd drinks? I bought her one once. Months ago," Nathan says.
"I mean, I asked her, she said yes. She didn't tell me she's an alcoholic," Nathan defends himself when Owen starts to shout at him. Scroll down to watch the video.
"The audience will definitely get more information next week. We're going to get more, but not all of it, and not the key elements to it. We're going to get very enticing hints next week, and hints that people will be able to draw their own conclusions. The actual spelling out of what happens is going to be saved until we come back," McKidd told Entertainment Weekly while talking about Owen and Nathan's relationship.
In addition, Kyle Diaz (guest star Wilmer Valderrama), a musician, is admitted to the hospital. He has been a patient of Multiple Sclerosis and complains of tremors in his hands. Another promo video shows what happens when he meets the doctors-in-charge for his case. He can be seen flirting with Penny and Amelia, but the doctor who draws most attention from the musician is Stephanie.
"God, why are all the doctors in this hospital so hot, Kyle tells the ladies. "Seriously, it's like a condition of employment here." Watch the trailer below.
