It looks like UFC Legend Dan Henderson is about to call it quits, and wave goodbye to the MMA world after his fight with Brazilian and former champ Lyoto Machida.
The two fighters are bound to fight next week on UFC on FOX 19 and this will be a rematch between the two. Their first fight in 2013 ended in split decision with Machida walking away as the victor.
The 45 year-old brawler has been underperforming in his last eight fights as he only won two, against Tim Boetsch and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, both via knock-out. His recent defeat came from Vitor Belfort on Nov. 7 2015 via head kick and punches.
Now, his past ten performances might suggest that he should go and hang up the gloves. However, Henderson said that he might still fight at least two to three times, but should his next match turn out to be a disappointment, he just might make the announcement sooner.
"It's a possibility I'll be retiring soon," he told MMA Junkie in an interview. "I don't know - maybe after two or three more. Or maybe this is the last one. I have no idea. It all depends on how I feel after this fight."
He further added that he is regularly peaking with UFC president Dana White but his decision will not be dependent on what White thinks. It will all go down to his coaching staff, according to Henderson.
Meanwhile, he also said that this fight might be boring in an interview with Sherdog. Machida was never known for being the striker Henderson is as the former champ is more dependent on his Jiu Jitsu and grappling skills. Hence, this might end up like their last fight, where Henderson was the aggressor and Machida being more on the defensive.
Preliminary cards listed on UFC on FOX 19 are Michael Chiesa versus Beneil Dariush, Bethe Correia versus Raquel Pennington, Court McGee versus Santiago Ponzinibbio and Hacran Dias versus Cub Swanson.
Meanwhile, rounding up the main card are Glover Teixeira versus Rashad Evans, Darrell Horcher against Khabib Nurmagomedov, Rose Namajunas versus Tecia Torres and last but not the least, Machida and Henderson.
