Prince William and wife Kate Middleton, visited Taj Mahal on April 16, Saturday, the final part of their tour of India after leaving Bhutan in the morning. Royal officials said the couple hope to create new memories.

They sat together on the bench where Princess of Wales, Diana, was pictured in 1992. The prince' mother was sitting alone in front of the monument to love 24 years ago, shortly before the break up of her marriage to Prince Charles.

The day marked when the new royal narrative was written at Taj Mahal. Diana's photos had the story of a princess soon to loosen ties to the monarchy. Her son, Prince William, brought his wife to the monument to love, something her husband failed to do with her, BBC reported.

Tourist guides would tell visitors of Taj Mahal about the "Diana bench." That story will already have to be updated.

Prince William and Kate have just come from Bhutan where they made a 10,000-foot hike to Tiger's Nest monastery, one of the country's most significant Buddhist spots. "With the mountains like this and the temples at the top it was just stunning to walk up there and see all the scenery and to listen to some of the history and religion of the country." The prince told reporters at the end of the hike.

The hike in Bhutan was something Prince William followed from his father. Prince Charles made a similar hike in 1998 but did not complete the trek. As he did not make it to the top, it is something his son William will be reminding him when they meet.

The prince found the hike easy when he reached half-way and realized he spoke too soon, as the second one was a bit cheeky. As for Kate, she said: "It was an amazing experience. I feel very lucky and fortunate to see such beautiful scenery. As William said, learn about the country."

The prince said Friday they missed their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. They have regularly called home many times, People reported. Here are more details about the royal couple's visit to Taj Mahal:
