Apple is planning to put up a command-center, data center with a $2 billion budget in its factory site in Arizona State. The data center is a solar powered building which will reside the tech giant's global data center network. Doug Ducey, Governor of Arizona, and Apple Company announced together on Monday that the iPhone company will build a huge command center facility, Gigaom reported.
The mention data center project is one of the biggest ventures that Apple has done as to date, once it is in progress, it will create about hundreds of engineering posts and construction jobs. The said project has a 30-year timeline however it will ramp up fast enough.
Apple plans to start the project immediately as soon as it gets hold of the control over GT Advanced Technologies. The glass plant filed for bankruptcy when the iPhone giant stopped using its products and opted to use the competitor's Corning glass for all its latest iPhone 6 series. The solar-powered facility will cover 1.3 million square feet, a 70-megawatt plant which is equivalent to power used to supply 14,500 houses.
"Its decision to bring this new facility to Mesa is a huge win for Arizona and a high testament to our business-friendly climate and talented workforce," Ducey said. "This expansion will bring a significant economic investment, and propel Arizona's position as one of the best states in the nation in which to do business," the Governor added according to USA Today.
The project will create 150 full time positions for Apple employees and would be able to open some 500 construction posts.
