Warner Bros. Japan just dropped the first trailer for the live-adaptation film, "Death Note: Light Up The New World," which releases Oct. 29 in theaters across Japan.

The plot centers on the three new main characters - Tsukuru Mishima, a Death Note Task Force leader, played by actor Masahiro Higashide, a renowned private investigator and legitimate successor of detective L named Ryuzaki (Sosuke Ikematsu) and a cyber-savvy hacker Yugi Shion, who is portrayed by actor Masaki Suda, and among others, who is compelled to play a deadly game of cat-and-mouse.

Earlier today, the film's official website posted a 30-second teaser that offers a lens into the chaos that ensues in the highly advanced information society, after the Shinigami (God of Death) have once again sent six death notes to the ground. At the end of the clip, the CGI-generated Shinigami, Ryuk, adds the line, "After all, humans are so interesting!"

Set 10 years after the confrontation between Kira and L, the world falls into chaos when the six supernatural notebooks brought many mass murders on the Wall Street in the United States, Shibuya in Japan and other places. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, a group of people must stop the person who wants Kira's revival and spares mankind from complete destruction.

The film features an ensemble cast starring Masahiro Higashide, Sosuke Ikematsu, Masaki Suda, Erika Toda, Rina Kawaei, Mina Fujii and Nakamura Shido II. It is directed by Shinsuke Sato, Anime News Network has learned.

"Death Note: Light Up The New World" is an upcoming Japanese film based on the best-selling supernatural action, mystery manga series penned by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. It is intended to be the sequel to 2006's "Death Note 2: The Last Name" and the fourth installment in the film series.

Apart from the trailer, the site further teases fans worldwide by revealing the list of bonuses for those who purchase advance tickets for the film, including the "Sensu Death" bonus item, special art featuring Ryuk and a folding fan themed after the six "Death Notes." The tickets will go on sale on April 28, Thursday.
