UPDATE

The Zenfone 2 line has been increasingly receiving software updates. This could suggest that the ASUS Zenfone 3 could really be in development considering that the company is working around the clock.

While the new phone would note be on par with high-end flagship smartphones such as the Galaxy S7 and the HTC 10, it would be a welcome addition to the mid-end range for budget-conscious consumers. ASUS is known for launching cheap smartphones with decent specs compared to other competing products.

Hopefully, the ASUS Zenfone 3 specs would be confirmed by the company soon. Seeing as it would be an upgrade, there could be more features added that will convince consumers again to go for their smartphones.

ASUS Zenfone 3 Specs

For the display, the Zenfone 3 would be having a 5.5-inch 2.5D glass display screen with a pixel resolution of 1920 x 1080. Unfortunately, this means that the screen would still stay the same it was with its predecessor.

However, there is still a chance that ASUS could install a 2K or a QHD screen instead considering the success that their phones have garnered. Cost could be one issue as they could want the phone to stay affordable but with impressive specs.

Just like with the rumored Moto X 2016, the ASUS Zenfone 3 specs were also spotted through a leaked benchmark result from GFXBench. It would seem that the company is straying away from Intel's Atom processors as the specs list that it would be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset with eight processors clocked at 2GHZ, according to Android Headlines.

Interestingly, there would be 2.8GB RAM available. Maybe this is for the base model like in the previous line. The high-end variants had 4GB RAM and there was even one with 128GB for its internal storage. ASUS could also do the same scheme with their new line of flagship smartphones.

The GFXBench results also showed that there was a 10GB for the internal storage, which would most likely mean that it would be rated at 16GB. For the camera, only the front camera was listed at 7MP.

ASUS has already confirmed the existence of the Zenfone 3, according to Softpedia The company said that they are hoping to introduce their new line of flagship smartphones by the end of June and to start mass producing them a month later in July.

Since ASUS's smartphone lines were hugely successful in Asian markets, it is also expected that they will have a taste of the Zenfone 3 first. These countries could include the Philippines, Vietnam and India among others.

The Zenfone 3 is then expected to be unveiled officially in June. ASUS would then clear up the confusion with the specs and also introduce how the 2.5D glass works with the smartphone.
