Avid fans of the action role-playing open world video game, "The Elder Scrolls," have been clamouring for the release of the sixth instalment in the franchise. However, their thirst may not be quenched until 2019.

According to Neurogadget, most fans are hoping to the see "The Elder Scrolls 6" announced this year. There have been constant rumours online about the game and several reports indicate that the game developer Bethesda Studios will eventually break their silence. In fact, some of the sources point towards the game being made known during the imminent Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016, which is slated for June 14 to June 16 in Los Angeles.

Rumours started flying around after Bethesda Vice President of VR and Marketing Pete Hines teased in 2015 that the company is already working on the next game. Hines even joked that the next instalment in "The Elder Scrolls" franchise will be called "Skyrim 2," but this claim has not been made official.

Previous rumours had it that "The Elder Scrolls 6" will be based on "Morrowind" or "Oblivion." However, in an interview with the Telegraph, Hines debunked such speculations. Besides the upcoming instalment being referred to as "Skyrim 2," the VP said that it is rare to have franchises like the ones Bethesda has and have people joking about "when Skyrim 2 is coming out."

Hines added, "The reason they say that is because generally speaking that's what you'd be getting with another publisher in charge. They'd be spitting out a Skyrim 2 the year after or two years later. That's just not how we view it. We're not the sort of publisher that focuses on 'what's our 25 titles for 2015'."

While fans are expecting an announcement about the sixth instalment soon, they will have to wait since Bethesda has a tradition of releasing its games after every four years. As a result, "The Elder Scrolls 6" suitable release is sometime in 2019. Furthermore, the game developer is still focused on "Fallout 4" and its DLCs, making it unlikely to get an update on "The Elder Scrolls 6" during the E3 2016.

In addition, Bethesda does not split its teams when working on a project so fans can only have the earliest update in 2017. Although there is scanty information about the upcoming instalment, rumours indicate that the sixth instalment may be located in either Elsweyr or Valenwood.
