Victoria Beckham of the 1990s sensation Spice Girls revealed she lip-synced during the girl group's performances in the past. It was no secret that she felt not most comfortable performing on stage, as she had always preferred a coy bow at the end of catwalk shows at a fashion event.

Only now that the singer-turned-fashion designer revealed that her unease caused producers to turn off her microphone during concerts. She was often silenced so only the voices of her group mates Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, Mel B and Mel C could be heard. This revelation shed light on why she probably resorted to pouting during their group performances, according to The Sun.

Beckham attended Vogue 100: A Century of Style exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London on May 5, Thursday. As one of U.K.'s preeminent designers, the former Posh Spice talked to Claudia Winkleman who was part of the Vogue 100 programme of events, about her work and her brand.

"They used to turn it off and just let the others sing," she told Winkleman. She did not seem to mind though. "I got the last laugh - and now my mic is well and truly on, finally," she added.

Though not the band's best singer, she proved she was the most stylish. Her fellow members poked fun at her fashion obsession.

"I bet it must be really hard for you Victoria, ya know, trying to decide whether to wear the little Gucci dress, the little Gucci dress or the little Gucci dress," Mel C sang in the 1997 "Spice World" movie. However, the first dress she wore in the Spice Girls which everybody thought was a black Gucci dress was actually from Miss Selfridge.

The now mother of four managed to turn her collection of 10 dresses she designed in 2008 into a £34-million business. Her first foray into fashion had sunglasses and denim licensing deals.

Beckham and her team proceeded to a more discreet approach to take a share of the luxury fashion and win over the fashion industry. She now employs 150 people in New York and London, and has just expanded in Hong Kong.

Beckham's four-year-old daughter Harper would help de-stress the workers at her company's headquarters before the New York Fashion Week by tap dancing for instance. Meanwhile, husband David would provide her crisps and biscuits backstage during fashion shows aside from sitting on the front row,  The Telegraph reported. .
