Reese's cover is in grave danger when he finds out his new POI has connections to his ex-colleagues at CIA.

In the promo for "Person of Interest" Season 5, episode 3, a face from the past emerges. Reese says this is CIA staring at his past. And this POI named Beale can reveal Reese's darkest secrets.

The second half of the promo shows the POI and his men attacking Reese. Later he is taken away in a car. Beale tells him that there is some unfinished business that they need to take care of. "There always is," Reese says and starts to attack his kidnappers in the car. Towards the end of the promo, the car topples. It has to be seen how Reese escapes and deals with the situation.

Meanwhile, in the previous episode, the Machine goes after Reese, Finch and Root. The facial recognition programming of the Machine is tested out by Finch and Root, however, the Machine is unable to process the information and face swap the members.

The Machine is taking a long time to initiate and it leads to Reese getting restless. Later, Root and Finch take the Machine out for testing. They make her recognise Reese in the middle of Times Square. She is able to recognise him.

Finch wants to start the numbers protocol and the Machines gives out 30 numbers. however, there is some problem and Finch runs a diagnostic but the Machine looks at them as threats and decides to take them out.

She locks Finch and Root in the subway car. Meanwhile, Reese gets another number and Laurie Granger is arriving from Tulsa to New York. However, the Machine has recruited Granger to assassinate Reese.
