Lowly club Granada CF (10-18-9, 39 points) will be the last team in the way of defending champions FC Barcelona (28-5-4, 88 points) in trying to claim their second consecutive La Liga title. They face each other at the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes on Saturday, May 14th for their final match this season.
The two teams are coming off lopsided victories in the previous matchday which makes this game a little more interesting than it should be. Granada is expected to make Barça earn their second straight title even if they are settled low in the league table right now.
The Nazaríes are currently at the 16th spot of the overall standings, only three points above the bottom three relegation area, which means that they could be in danger of being demoted to the Segunda Division next season if they lose this one against the Catalonia residents.
Granada crushed contending squad Sevilla FC, 4-1, at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium last Sunday to get out of the relegation zone for the first time in weeks, as reported by ESPN.
Midfielder Isaac Cuenca started the scoring during the first half injury time to give the visitors the lead at the break. Sevilla's Diego Gonzalez Polanco was able to equalize at the 73rd, but three more goals from El Grana sealed the win for manager José González's side.
It was the second straight victory for Granada, and third in their last four assignments, as they continue their push to stay in the Spanish first division domestic competitions next season.
Meanwhile, Barcelona demolished RCD Espanyol, 5-0, at the Nou Camp also last Sunday to continue their delicate attempt to repeat as champions, as per SkySports.
Luis Suárez led the team with a double at the 52nd and 61st minutes while Lionel Messi and Neymar also scored, at the eighth and 83rd minutes respectively. Brazilian midfielder Rafinha netted one at the 74th to complete Barça's five-goal haul.
With their win and Atletico Madrid's loss to Levante in the previous matchday, Barça is now alone at the top spot of the league table, only one point ahead of second-placed squad and archrival Real Madrid.
The predicted result is a 3-0 rout for Barcelona to claim the 2015-2016 La Liga season trophy.
