The 26-year-old actress first acknowledged the Phantom Planet frontman publicly in 2013 in the midst of her acceptance speech for "Short Term 12" movie at the Gotham Independent Film Awards. Six years later, Greenwald accompanied Larson to several awards circuit, during which the latter received numerous honors for her groundbreaking performance in the independent drama film "Room."

"Oh man, I mean, he's the other half of the equation - how can you explain support?" Larson told Entertainment Tonight, in an interview backstage during the Screen Actors Guild Awards. "I mean, it goes beyond anything. He's just my person, he's my best friend."

After acknowledging her movie son, Jacob Tremblay, in her acceptance speech, the actress went ahead to thanked her longtime partner and gushed: "Real partner, Alex Greenwald. I love you, the whole thing!"

Larson recently graced the March cover of Elle magazine and opened up about her relationship with her estranged father.  The actress revealed that she has not seen or spoken to her father in more than 10 years, stating that her estranged father did not do himself any favors and stressed that it seems that his father never really wanted to be a parent in the first place.

Larson believed that the strained relationship with her father had an impact on her acting career, as she realized recently that it is one of the reasons why so much of his work was so volatile. Meanwhile, the actress is set to take on the female lead role in the forthcoming monster film, "Kong: Skull Island," which is scheduled to be released on March 10, 2017.
