Fans of the hit anime series, "Attack on Titan," may have to wait a little bit longer as the release date of its second season was rumored to have been moved again to January 2017, completely ditching its October 2016 release date.

According to Attack on Titan Wikia, the delay may have been confirmed by Mision Tokyo, which is a Spanish manga news website. In the said report of the Spanish manga site, it claims that a Spanish TV network has requested rights for the anticipated second season, yet the network was not granted by the series' manga publisher, Kodansha.

The report also claims that Kodansha stated that "Attack on Titan" Season 2 will not be able to premiere in 2016, and that the long awaited second installment has been rescheduled to air in early 2017, specifically in the month of January.

It is said that the Spanish manga news website Mision Tokyo is quite reputable, as the same site also confirmed the release date of "Attack on Titan" Season 1 way back in 2012.

Although the report did not reveal the reason behind the delay, speculations leads to a conclusion that the producer of "Attack on Titan" Season 2, Wit Studio, could not produce the series on the initial October 2016 release date.

There were rumors before that Wit Studio is having a hard time producing the second installment because they were not able to receive enough manga material. However, contradicting reports reveals that the delay was caused by Wit Studio's current development of another anime series, titled "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress," which is set to premiere in spring 2016, HNGN reported.

To wrap things up, the team behind "Attack on Titan" Season 2 has not officially confirmed anything relating to the delay or release date of the series, which is why all information regarding "AoT 2" should be taken with a pinch of salt. Perhaps, Wit Studio may be on track to produce the long awaited "Attack on Titan" Season 2 on its original release date, or maybe not.
