Apple recently announced that it will soon release its own music streaming application. The Cupertino based company is working closely with Beats Music in hopes of toppling the current leaders Spotify and Rdio.
The new service is yet to be named and rumors have it that it will incorporate technologies from Beats along with its music content, according to 9to5mac.
Instead of integrating the existing Beats Music app to iOS, Apple decided to develop a whole new app and plans to deliver it not only to iPhones but also to Apple TV. According to sources, the new app will also be made available to iPod and iPad.
The biggest shock so far is Apple's decision to develop the app in order to run in the Android platform. If this rumor is true, this will be the first time Apple will release an app to its closest rival, according to PCMag.
The app will make use of the cloud streaming service and will be primarily based on the user's music library. Apple will also incorporate a search feature in order to seamlessly browse on both the user's iTunes and Beats music catalog.
Apple also plans to integrate Beats' social network function in order to allow its users to follow certain artists.
Although the new app relies mostly on Beats technology, Apple will be the one working on user interface. Apple has already dismissed Beats default motif of red and black, instead the new app will sport a look consistent with the iTunes and iOS music app.
The new Apple service will not be offered for free. Apple is currently in negotiation with various record labels and wants to release the app for a $5 monthly fee. This price range will be cheaper compared to the current services offered in the market which averages to about $9 per month.
