"Mike and Molly" was cancelled by CBS earlier this year after six seasons.
However, until today, loyal viewers of the sitcom are still urging the network to rethink their decision.
"Mike and Molly" stars Melissa McCarthy and Billy Gardell. Other cast members include Katy Mixon, Reno Wilson, Swoosie Kurtz, Nyambi Nyambi and a whole lot more.
Following their announcement, CBS Entertainment president Glenn Geller said that their decision to axe the show wasn't very easy for them especially because of its two lead stars.
While speaking with Deadline, Geller said, "These decisions are really challenging. I have tremendous respect for executive producers Chuck Lorre, Al Higgins, stars Melissa McCarthy and Billy Gardell and the entire cast," he said.
The publication claimed that the network failed to negotiate a new license agreement with Warner Bros TV regarding the fate of the show, its actors and their contracts.
Meanwhile, McCarthy was actually the first to drop the bomb about the fate of "Mike and Molly." While at the Golden Globes, the actor spoke with Entertainment Tonight reporter Kevin Frazier and said that she's very sad about the ending of the TV show.
"I'm really sad about 'Mike and Molly.' It's really heartbreaking. Friday, I burst out crying. I think it's going to be a rough three weeks," she said. At that time, "Mike and Molly" only had three more episodes left to film.
"That's my second family. I'm going to miss it so much, I almost can't talk about it, but you know what? It's not very often that you get six years with people that you really do truly love and good work that you're proud of. I think they wrote a hell of a show," she said.
In other news, fans are still urging CBS to renew the McCarthy and Gardell starred.
"Really pissed off they are cancelling Mike & Molly. It is the last really good sitcom on television."
Another fan wrote, "Can't understand why they cancelled it. There's hardly any good shows any more... This was a great one... We'll be watching CBS less and less. What a shame."
Since then, McCarthy and Gardell already moved on to other projects separately.
