Several heartbreaking new details have emerged recently amid the ongoing investigation as state and federal officers continue to piece together the cause and circumstances of Prince's April 21 death. Recent reports states that the "Purple Rain" singer may have been dead for more than six hours before his body was finally found in an elevator at his Paisley Park estate.

The paramedic, who responded  to the 911 emergency call, reportedly told law enforcement officers that the singer was likely dead for hours. Autopsy reports determining the cause of death are still pending.

The late singer had grown increasingly agitated during the days following his emergency treatment for an opioid overdose in Moline on April 15. Prompted by the medical emergency, a distress call was also made from a staff member of Paisley park to someone in New York in the early hours of April 20 to seek advice on how to calm Prince down.

An undisclosed source told Star Tribune that Prince received intravenous fluids later that day at a local Minnesota hospital, though it is yet unclear what he was being treated for. His staff reportedly also reached out to his longtime friend Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins, a well-known environmental and labor activist in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Ellis-Lamkins in turn said to have put the late singer's staff in touch with Dr. Howard Kornfeld to help him shed off his dependence on prescription painkillers. Since Howard could not leave for California right away, he reportedly sent his son Andrew Kornfeld to explain the treatment to the late singer.

Andrew is said to have arrived at the estate with Kirk Johnson, Prince's longtime friend, drummer and business associate, and Meron Bekure, Prince's assistant. It was Johnson and Bekure who later discovered the late singer's lifeless body in an elevator while Andrew made the 911 call.

It was previously reported that painkiller Percocet was present in Prince's body when he died. Some pills were also found at the death scene.

Earlier this month, the search warrant issued on Prince's estate revealed that a Minneapolis-based doctor prescribed him an undisclosed medication on April 7 as well as on April 20, the day before he died, CNN reported. U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) even conducted a raid on the Paisley Park estate to determine if Prince has been unlawfully prescribed opioid medications.
