Cupertino-based giant Apple has reportedly requested its Asian suppliers to produce iPhone 7 more than what the analysts predicted. The news came after rumors circulated that there was a slow demand for the new iPhone flagship device.

Apple has demanded an order of 72 to 78 million units of new iPhone 7 at the end of 2016, according to Barron's Asia. The figure reflected its highest production in nearly two years. Earlier, analysts from Wall Street expected only a production of 65 million units.

Hon Hai Precision Technology, known also as Foxconn Technology Group would remain as the leading manufacturer for iPhone 7 while Pagatron Corporation would also be part of the assembly. Both the manufacturers are expected to pick up more market share as they both joined in the production of glass casing and dual camera components.

iPhone assembler Pegatron increased its market share to 10 percent, while Catcher Technology that makes metal casing for Apple units surged up to 9.7 percent. Hon Hai Precision improved 4.7 percent, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp. increased by 3.8 percent and Largan Precision soared 2.6 percent.

Earlier, iPhone casing supplier Catcher Technology and KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported that Apple is planning to utilize glass casing for the new iPhone 7. The move was reportedly part of the Apple's wish to make the new iPhone handset stand out from the rest of the aluminum-bodied smartphones in the market today, according to Mac Rumors.

There were rumors that Apple is planning to collaborate with several suppliers to create the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus with its target roll out date in September. Manufacturers Foxconn, Wistron and Pegatron were named as major companies involved in the process.

As for iPhone 7, there were speculations that it would keep the 6s design. However, iPhone 7 tweaks could include marginally bigger battery, waterproofing and dustproofing, no headphone jack, faster Intel LTE chips, a faster TSMC-built A10 chip and repositioned antenna bands. iPhone 7 Plus (Pro) stirs rumors that it could feature a dual-lens camera, 3GB of RAM and a Smart Connector.
