Harley-Davidson is poised to revive the beauty and excitement of flat track racing with their introduction of the new, Flat Track Racer- the XG750R.
According to reports this initiative of one of America's largest motorcycle manufacturers, Harley-Davidson, Inc. (H-D), was brought to life due to the necessity of an upgrade. The motor company saw the need for an improvement to be on par with today's more popular racing sports. In a statement via Digital Trends, Harley-Davidson's racing manager Kris Schoonover stated that:
"After decades of flat-track racing success behind the Harley-Davidson XR750 flat track motorcycle, we knew it was time to develop the next-generation Harley-Davidson to compete in one of the best spectator racing sports out there today."
With the adrenaline rush regularly brought by speedway racing and its constant upgrades, flat track racing championed by Harley-Davidson's previous model was almost on a brink of oblivion. The flat track racing has been stuck with the legendary Sportster based XR-750, which undeniably for decades became the face of the particular motorcycle racing.
In retrospect, the XR-750 has been in used for flat track racing since the early 1970s. It has dominated the AMA Grand National Championship, achieving victories over victories as compared to other bikes. And with the entrance of better engines and younger racers, the legacy of XR-750 will soon be challenged by the introduction of XG750R.
The XG750R or "the G Bike" has been conceptualized and made into perfection for the H-D Screamin' Eagle Factory Team, which is set to race Sunday, May 29, at the AMA Pro Flat Track Springfield Mile in Illinois.
This debut race of the G Bike will significantly change the view of racing enthusiasts with regards to the performance of this XG model and its predecessors. It was previously reported that this new bike will be powered by Powered by the fuel injected, liquid-cooled H-D Revolution X V-Twin engine, which will soon test the natural abilities of the racers of today's generation.
"We wanted a young rider with plenty of raw ability for the XG750R program, and Davis proved himself in the GNC2 class," Schoonover said via DT.
Harley-Davidson's answer to the challenge of the new racing era will surely reverberate in the racing world as they are set to conquer new heights with their new G-Bike. Even though they already had a significant progress, Schoonover still has some reservations. He still acknowledges the need for more testing of the XG750R as he informed reporters via Gizmag.
