Star chef Lee Chan Oh has been involved in infidelity scandal since a video of himself with a woman sitting on his lap circulated online on May 24. As the result of the rumors, the chef was forced to leave the shows he is appearing in including JTBC's "Please Take Care of My Refrigerator."
In response to the rumors, Oh denied cheating on his wife, model Kim Sae Rom. The chef's management agency also explained that the video was taken during the "2016 Jeju Food and Wine Festival" and the woman in question is actually a friend of the Oh and Kim couple, Nate News reported.
To defend the chef, the agency shared that the video was recorded by a part-time translator who was working during the mentioned event. It was said that the translator filmed the scene just for fun. The chef's side also reasoned out that if he has really been cheating his wife, he would be discreet considering that the event was a festival where people can easily spot him with the woman.
Oh confirmed that he was the man in the video but clarified that the woman he was with is just a friend. He also said that he wants to apologize to the public, even if everything was just a misunderstanding because he is a public figure.
The translator who took the video and uploaded it on her social media account also tried to clear the misunderstanding by issuing an apology directed to the chef. On the other hand, despite declaring his innocence and some people coming out to defend him, the public still doubt if he was saying the truth. In the end, the celebrity chef decided to leave the show, "Please Take Care of My Refrigerator," due to the controversy, Korea Times reported.
Oh married Kim in September 2015. The couple tied the knot after only four months of dating. The chef owns a French restaurant in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul and he became popular after appearing on TV alongside other well-known chefs in Korea.
