The premiere episode of "Outcast" is titled "A Darkness Surrounds Him." "Series debut of a thriller about a young man who deals with demonic possession that has plagued him all his life. In the opener, while investigating another case of possession, secrets from his past come to the fore," reads the synopsis.

"Outcast" stars Patrick Fugit of "Gone Girl" as Kyle Barnes, Philip Glenister of "Life on Mars" as Reverend Anderson, Gabriel Bateman of "Stalker" fame as Joshua Austin, Wren Schmidt of "Broadwalk Empire" as Megan Holter (Barnes' adopted sister), Reg E. Cathy of "The Wire" as Chief Giles (Chief of Police of Rome), Kate Lyn Sheil of "House of Cards" as Allison Barnes (Kyle's ex-wife), Julia Crockett of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" as Sarah Barnes (Kyle's mother), David Denman of "13 Hours" as Mark Holter (Megan's husband) and Brent Spiner of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" as Sidney.

Meanwhile, Kirkman talked to Entertainment Weekly about the similarities and differences between "Outcast" and "The Walking Dead."

"Walking Dead is such a visceral, physical threat, and with Outcast, it's an inward threat. It's not a smart show, because I don't ever want to do a smart show, but it is somewhat cerebral to think about things that are inside people, and dealing with the struggles of people who aren't the people they're supposed to be. The stories that we're telling are very different," Kirkman said about the differences.

He added unlike "The Walking Dead," there is not "a lot of travelling" in "Outcast."

"I'm very proud of the fact that literally anything could happen on The Walking Dead. Anybody could die, crazy stuff can happen, and the things that you think, "They'll never do that on TV" - we strive to do at all times. I think Outcast has that in a huge way. I think that it's very unusual, and it's unnerving, and we go into some areas that you wouldn't expect people to go in in a television show, and we tell different kinds of stories," Kirkman said about the similarities.

"Outcast" Season 1, episode 1 airs June 3, Friday and watch the first episode online, here.
