"Descendants of the Sun" failed to win the Best Drama Show award at the 52nd Baeksang Art Awards held on June 3, Friday night, at the Kyung Hee University’s Grand Peace Hall. However, it was awarded Grand Prize in TV.
The two main actors of the popular 16-episode drama, Song Joong-ki and Song Hye Kyo did not bag the Best Actor and Best Actress awards. But Song Joong-ki was named Most Popular Male in TV, while Song Hye Kyo got the Most Popular Female in TV awards. The two also got the IQIYI Star awards.
The Best Drama show award went to "Signal," a crime drama which ended with a double-digit viewership of 13.4 percent, reported Koreaherald. Like “Descendants of the Sun,” “Signal” was a 16-part series, but its final episode was open-ended.
