Even though Microsoft has been very vocal that they are working on a new flagship smartphone, there is no firm indication that the image is authentic; however, Forbes reviewer thinks otherwise, as the publication reported that the leaked images of the Surface Phone is similar to the previous Surface device designs that are now available in the market. With that said, there is a possibility that leaked images may be authentic.

In terms of the much anticipated smartphone's release date, Microsoft is expected to unveil Surface Phone in 2017. The smartphone is expected to be equipped with a 5.7-inch to 5.8-inch display that is able to support 2K screen resolution. Other specs expected in the Surface Phone is the integration of the next-gen Snapdragon 830 processor coupled with a 3,000mAh battery capacity and 20MP Carl Zeiss lens.

According to News Independent, Surface Phone is also expected to be released in three variants - 4GB RAM coupled with 64GB built-in storage (Basic Surface Phone), 6GB RAM coupled with 128 on-board storage (Advanced Surface Phone) and 8GB RAM coupled with 512GB built-in storage.

In terms of Surface Phone's tag price, it is said that price may vary depending on the variant, but most likely, it will be priced between $700 and $1,200.

Meanwhile, Microsoft - the company responsible for releasing Surface Book and Surface Pro series - is said to be very focused on creating Surface Phone, leading to speculations that the yet-to-be-released smartphone will be a threat to the already-loosing-popularity Lumia devices. The Windows Phone job cut added spice to the rumors that the Tech giant is planning to abolish their Lumia brand, which may have a negative impact to all Nokia employees.

At the moment, no word yet coming from the company whether they will continue their Lumia brand while working on the Surface Phone device.
