Before "Red Dead Redemption" was released in 2010, a prequel was first released in 2004 titled "Red Dead Revolver." Looking at the timeline, it suggests that there is a six-year gap between the two installments. Following this trend, there is already a six-year difference between "Red Dead Redemption" and its rumored upcoming installment, and this may mean that fans can presume the sequel is on its way this year, PC Advisor reported.

The same report also noted the statement of Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick in his interview during the Cowen and Company Analyst conference last May 2014. During the interview, Zelnick assured that games like "Red Dead Redemption" is absolutely a permanent franchise, explaining that as a developer they do not want to release "more games" but rather produce quality games that consumers want.

He also added they do not want to rush in making sequels but that does not mean they will not push through with producing. He also advised fans to wait for future announcements about the game series.

In terms of "Red Dead Redemption 2" gameplay, the report revealed that an image of the game's map went viral online after it was posted on NeoGaf. The leaked image suggested that the game world for the upcoming installment will be larger than its predecessor. It also hinted the upcoming game may be a prequel to the existing one.

The leaked image was confirmed by a reliable source as authentic and indeed the real deal, Tech Radar reported. The source added that it was the very recent map, which suggests that components like this is already going through development. As for its rumored title, the much-awaited sequel is speculated to be titled as "Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West."
