Also labelled as a flagship killer, the freshly launched Oneplus 3 has come with unparalleled features when rivalled against other new smartphones. However, it is no match when compared to Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge in terms of speed.

This is according to a real-life speed test conducted by YouTube channel "C4ETech." The test involved running the same apps on each device under the same conditions and repeating the tests to ensure impartiality.

In the first run, the test concentrated on which device was quicker in opening apps, while the second one leaned on speeds pertaining to reopening the same apps. The last test also considered whether any of the apps was still in the device's memory.

According to BGR, anyone who thought that 6GB of RAM would boost Oneplus 3 in the competition to overpower the Galaxy S7 Edge, which has only 4 GB of RAM, was wrong. As the test results confirmed, the Galaxy S7 Edge was not only faster, but it also had better RAM management than OnePlus 3.

The tests also established that more RAM does not necessarily translate to a faster mobile experience. With Oneplus 3 exploiting 6GB of RAM, analysts assert that poor performance in speed may be attributed to the utilization of aggressive memory management, Phan Droid reported.

All the same, OnePlus 3 is not an ordinary smartphone as it still packs impressive specs compared to other smartphones launched this year. Its hefty 6GB of RAM, although not well utilized, is one of its major strengths, especially at a time when high-end flagship devices are going with the standard 4GB.

Other impressive specs include a 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED HD display with 16M colors, Corning Gorilla Glass 4, Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 chipset, a dual-core 2.15 GHz CPU, 16MP rear camera, an 8MP front camera, and 64GB of internal storage. The device runs on Android version 6.0.1 Marshmallow coupled with Oxygen OS and the integration of fingerprint, gyro, proximity, accelerometer, compass, and barometer sensors.

What is more, OnePlus has ensured that OnePlus fans can enjoy these specs at a slightly lower price. The device is priced with other midrange smartphones at a price group of 7/10, making it a good choice for budget-conscious smartphone enthusiasts.
