Despite being part of one of the world's most popular TV series since 2012, "Game of Thrones" actress Gemma Whelan recently revealed that people still do not recognize her. The British actress has been playing the role of Yara Greyjoy in the HBO series for the last four seasons.

During her appearance on "Good Morning Britain," the 35-year-old actress admitted that she does not get stopped by fans on the street like her co-stars Kit Harrington and Emilia Clarke. Apart from the hit HBO series, she also has been working on a British sitcom "Upstart Crow."

"People don't normally recognize me," the actress said on the show. "It is happening a bit more now because I've had more to do this season."

Whelan further revealed that even if she does get approached, she is usually warned against ruining the plot of the show, rather than being asked for spoilers. The actress also admitted that the hit fantasy show has changed her life as it has impacted the kind of roles she is now offered.

"Game of Thrones" Season 6 has particularly brought Whelan's character into limelight. While an earlier episode revealed Yara as the show's first ever lesbian character, her meeting with Mother of Dragons in "Battle of the Bastards" seemed to have hinted towards a new romantic possibility.

The scene was a sideshow to the main action happening at Winterfell. However, fans were thrilled with the new alliance and are even hoping that Season 7 will show Daenerys and Yara as the show's first lesbian couple.

On the other hand, Clarke also appeared excited about the scene of her character's meeting with Yara. Speaking excitingly in a behind-the-scene video released by HBO, she did acknowledge that there was a mild flirtation between the two characters.

Meanwhile, "Game of Thrones" has as little as just two seasons left after the ongoing one. Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss declared earlier during an interview with Variety that Season 7 may have just seven episodes while Season 8, which will also be the finale season, is likely to have just six.
