Sony Pictures Animation is already working on the much-awaited sequel to 2015's "Hotel Transylvania 2." Latest reports claimed that the third film in the animated franchise, "Hotel Transylvania 3," will finally arrive on the big screen on Sept. 22, 2018.
Reports claimed that film director Genndy Tartakovsky, 46, has officially signed on to once again direct the third sequel, with a screenplay by Michael McCullers.
Further, Michelle Murdocca is back on board to produce the forthcoming film, which will also see the return of lead voice actors - Adam Sandler as Count Dracula, Andy Samberg as Jonathan aka Johnnystein and Selena Gomez as Dracula's 118-year-old vampire daughter named Mavis.
"I thought I was done exploring the world of Hotel Transylvania after the first two films," Tartakovsky expressed his excitement in returning to the director's chair for a third round, as quoted by IGN. "But while I was away from the franchise finishing my TV show Samurai Jack, an idea sparked that I got really excited about and made it irresistible to return and helm myself this third adventure."
It can be recalled that "Hotel Transylvania 2," released on Sept. 25, 2015, follows Mavis and Johnny getting married and was then blessed with a healthy young son named Dennis, who lacks vampire abilities. However, things turn upside-down when Dracula's human-despising father, Vlad, suddenly visits the hotel, just in time when the former calls his friends to help him make Dennis a vampire.
While the particulars about the film are largely being kept under wraps for the time being, "Hotel Transylvania 3" is expected to highlight a light-hearted, yet an exemplary horror film that is loaded with hijinks to amuse the viewers.
Meanwhile, a television series based on the film is scheduled to hit the airwaves in early 2017. Developed and produced by Corus Entertainment's Nelvana, the TV series will most likely focus on the teenage years of Mavis and her friends at the "Hotel Transylvania," Variety reported. The publication notes that Sony Pictures Television will handle the series' distribution in the United States, while Nelvana will distribute it outside the U.S.
