Coalition Technical Director Mike Rayner revealed that "Gears of War 4" is already an Xbox "Play Anywhere" game, where players can purchase it once and play both in Xbox One and Windows 10. He also revealed the game can achieve 4K visuals as long as the platform can support the requirement.

When asked how they have made this possible, Rayner explained they used Unreal Engine 4 and had the game run in both Xbox One and Windows 10 at all times. He emphasized they needed to specialize in both platforms in order to deliver a realistic game experience. He also said they needed to exert extra effort in "pushing" the game for Xbox One in terms of hardware in order to achieve the visual showcase the game is known for, Dual Shockers reported.

Upon being asked how they were able to utilize Unreal Engine 4 in incorporating their ideas to make the game alive, Rayner said they used Direct X 12 graphic CPI for Xbox One by removing a number of layers that renew the client application and the graphics hardware. This allowed them to "push" the visuals and achieve optimum performance.

He also elaborated that when they brought it to PC, it required them to use higher frame rates and "push the game as far as possible." He also revealed the game can produce premium 4K visuals on PC using Windows 10 as long as the hardware can support the requirement. For Xbox One, Rayner explained they took effort to optimize the game for the said console for the 1080p rendering.

"Gears of War 4" is expected to launch on October 11. It was revealed that the game will be an Xbox "Play Anywhere" game where it allows players to retrieve saved files, achievements and progressions from one console to another, making it interchangeably playable by both Microsoft platforms, Game Spot reported.

More details are expected to be revealed as "Gears of War 4" launching date approaches. As of the moment, no price details have been announced yet by Microsoft.
