Canadian police stated that they had foiled a plot by two suspects to shoot as many people as they can at a Halifax mall on Valentine's Day before they would take their own lives. Brian Brennan, Nova Scotia Royal Canadian Mounted Police Commanding Officer, that their investigators were able to learn about the plot and acted on it as fast as they could to stop the ruthless plan.
A 23-year old American fem ale from Geneva, Illinois and a 19-year-old male from Timberlea plotted the Valentine's Day crime. They had access to firearms and planned to do the gruesome crime in a public place like the Halifax mall on Feb. 14. The suspects planned to massacre and open fire anyone they see in the area, according to CBS News.
The female suspect was arrested at the Halifax airport and admitted the scheme to the law enforcement. She confessed their crime plots and disclosed several prewritten pronouncements to be posted on Twitter once they did the deed and killed themselves.
On the other hand, the male suspect shot himself inside his home in Timberlea as soon as their plans have been tipped to the local police and got him surrounded by authorities around 1:20am Friday.
Two more male suspects, aged 20 and 17 years old, emerged to be involved in the plan but the police were not yet clear with regard to their role and participation, NBC News reported.
"I wouldn't characterize it as a terrorist event, I would classify it as a group of individuals that had some beliefs and were willing to carry out violent acts against citizens but there's nothing in the investigation to classify it as a terrorist attack or terrorist incident," explained Brennan.
