Although Apple kept mum with the new Apple Watch 2 during the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2016, there were featured details running through the internet about the new watch's reported digital crown, selfie camera, and OS 3 update that would hint the appearance of the yet-to-announce device.

According to reports, U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issued a pair of Apple Watch specific patent applications that will be integrated on the Apple Watch 2. The first patent covers the addition of the watch's Digital Crown and other functional buttons.

According to Patently Apple, the Digital Crown controls the movement in the Apple Watch 2's user interface through scrolling or scaling in response to the rotation of the crown. Also, the crown is "touch-sensitive," meaning it can detect whether a user is touching the crown.

In the same report, a patent also revealed details about the potential use of camera(s) in future Apple Watch 2 models. "The camera can be disposed on the front surface of Apple Watch face to capture images of the user," as described on the patent description.

"A compact digital camera that includes an image sensor such as a CMOS sensor and optical components (e.g. lenses) arranged to focus an image onto the image sensor, along with control logic operable to use the imaging components to capture and store still and/or video images."

Another concrete detail issued regarding the upcoming Apple Watch 2 is the updated smartwatch platform, watchOS 3, which was recently unveiled as the brand new Apple Watch software.

According to Tech Radar, the new software means that the watch is faster than ever before as well as handing a handful of new features to the Apple Watch. Based on reports, the improved software also allows opening of background updates and storing the most-used apps in memory for faster load times.

While WWDC 2016 did not spilled even a few beans on the upcoming Apple Watch model, people should still look out for even the smallest hint about the Apple Watch 2 through the company's upcoming conferences.
