Avid players of the arcade game "Dissidia Final Fantasy" in Japan will soon meet a new playable character in the game. Square Enix has identified the "Final Fantasy 7" antagonist Kefka Palazzo as the game's new chaos character.

The game developer made the announcement on Tuesday, June 28, in a video that featured the clown-like Kefka, Anime News Network reported. The clip started with a view of a snowy terrain with a mountainous backdrop. Kefka suddenly makes his appearance by running and gliding across the screen. Some of the said character's funny and crazy antics were also displayed in the video.

Square Enix's clip even showcased a few of the "Final Fantasy 7" villain's classic moves and attacks. In some of the shots, Kefka appeared to be floating in midair as he delivered powerful blasts against his opponents. The video ended with the beloved villain trying to adjust the placement of the camera "filming" him for the trailer before striking a pose.

Kefka is the second chaos character added to the Japan arcade game. Square Enix has previously incorporated Garland to the list of chaos game characters for "Dissidia Final Fantasy."

Meanwhile, "Dissidia Final Fantasy" features a fighting system where three game characters battle it out against three opponents. Players can also summon popular characters from the "Final Fantasy" games, as well as an Ifrit, provided the arcade game's summon gauge has been filled up, as stated in the same report. The technology behind the said game is also from the core system of the gaming console Playstation 4 instead of the typical arcade game circuit board.

In related news, the introduction of a new chaos character to "Dissidia Final Fantasy" was previously announced by Square Enix, according to Gematsu. The game developer stated that it will unveil a new character for the arcade game in a Niconico live stream that was scheduled on Monday, June 27. Other game details were also expected to be revealed during the said live stream that supposedly included information about an upcoming official tournament. However, details about the said event have yet to be disclosed.

Arcade gamers can expect to play the "Final Fantasy 7" character Kefka in "Dissidia Final Fantasy" beginning June 30.
