Contrary to initial reports that Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be released on October, new rumors revealed that the new launch date for the anticipated fifth version of the tech giant's convertible laptop series will be on spring of 2017.

It is said that the delayed release date of the Surface Pro 4's successor may not be bad news at all. It may actually come with a big bonus, as the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 unveiling may also be the same launch date of the Windows 10 RS2 update, Ecumenical News reported.

The grand announcements of Surface Pro laptop's upgrades have been an annual event, as Microsoft has been traditionally upgrading its laptop line yearly, since the first Surface Pro was launched in 2013; however, Surface Pro 5's announcement may be a new exception to this calendar rule.

As it is just past half of 2016, some tech expectators are still hoping and waiting for an October 2016 launch of Surface Pro 5, but report said a spring 2017 release is highly possible compared to the October one.

This is apparently because the upgraded convertible laptop is waiting for the still-being-developed new operating system from Microsoft - Windows 10 Redstone of RS2 - which is said to be the major update for Windows 10.

In terms of specifications, the upcoming convertible laptop from the Washington-based tech company will be powered by the latest and also forthcoming Kaby Lake processor by Intel, CNet reported. This new processor is the successor of the Intel Skylake, which was inside the Surface Pro 4. It is also speculated that Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will have a USB Type-C port to boost its charging speed, plus will also feature a whopping 2K and 4K screen versions.

The anticipated convertible laptop will also be packed with 16GB of RAM and will come with an upgraded version of Surface Pen, which may have a wireless charging capability instead of the current pen with alkaline AAAA battery.

When it comes to the Microsoft Surface Pro's price tag, it is believed to start with $899, just like its predecessor Surface Pro 4.
