Serena Williams has achieved another milestone in her professional career. The tennis player has recently landed her 300th victory and has surpassed veteran athlete Chris Evert's record.

The tennis player achieved her milestone win when she defeated Annika Beck in the Wimbledon 2016 match held on Sunday, July 3. Williams bested Germany's Beck in a 6-3 6-0 match that lasted for 51 minutes. Her recent win has also put her over Evert's 299 major victory record and only 6 wins below record holder Martina Navratilova. When reporters shared this interesting information to Williams after the match, she mentioned that she was unaware of her recent accomplishment, Telegraph reported.

However, she did gush over her 300th major victory. Williams commented that it was a cool and awesome achievement, referring to her exceeding Evert's record. The American athlete also shared her confidence in securing another major win under her belt. The tennis champion stated that she "knows what it takes to win" tennis tournaments. Williams added that the challenge lies in putting that game knowledge to action in upcoming matches.

Williams also described herself as having a warrior mentality. The tennis champion even compared herself to one of the greatest tennis players in history, Novak Djokovic. She explained that she shares a similar history with Djokovic given the four consecutive wins that they both achieved in 2015. "I think he and I have both made extreme history," she said.

Meanwhile, Williams also opened up about her tough Wimbledon match with Christina McHale during the third round of Wimbledon 2016. She admitted that she was in a warrior's mood during the said match, The Guardian reported. Avid tennis fanatics may have also witnessed Williams' show of anger when she smashed her tennis racket on the ground several times before throwing it behind her. The tennis champion explained that she was frustrated and angry during the early rounds of her match with McHale.

However, Williams did manage to gain the upper hand over McHale and won the match. The athlete commented that she was not the type of person to easily give up despite the odds. She shared that her tenacity to continue fighting is one of her best characteristics. "I [continue] to struggle and fight. That is what I do best. I think I'm amazing in tight matches," she added.
