The megahit anime series "Attack on Titan" might be coming to an end. According to a latest report, Season 2 might be the last time the Japanese manga series' based anime will go on air. Read on for the details.

"Attack on Titan" Season 1 premiered on April 7, 2013 and came to a close on Sept. 29, 2013 after 25-episode run. Fans have since been waiting for the return of the post-apocalyptic anime series.
Recently, the return of anime adapted from the manga of the same title by Hajime Isayama has been confirmed. Based on the unexpected turn of events in the recent chapter of "Attack on Titan," online publication Christian Times is speculating that "Attack on Titan" Season 2 will be the end of anime series.
According to the website, the latest chapter featured the heroic yet untimely death of Armin and Eren. The two died fighting Colossus Titan and Beast Titan. The death of the two leaders of the Survey Corps, also known as Scout Regiment, will impact the future of the squad dedicated to fight the Titans. At the same time, the death of the two leading characters and villains might be hinting at the end of the story.
So far the show has been true to its source material and it is expected to do so in the future as well. Fans must brace themselves for the highly-anticipated "Attack on Titans" Season 2 as it is expected to feature the big combat between the heroes and their biggest nemesis.
Meanwhile, "Attack on Titans" Season 2 is slated to be released in spring 2017. The big news was revealed alongside a promotional picture at the Tokyo International Forum during an Attack Festival live-reading event this weekend, according to Crunchy Roll. Yuki Kaji (Eren), Yui Ishikawa (Mikasa) and Marina Inoue (Armin) will reprise their respective roles and director Tetsuro Araki will assume the role of chief director and Masashi Koizuka, who previously served as an episode director will be working as a director.
