Network carrier T-Mobile is rolling out the Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 update for Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy Note 4. The model number of Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, which is getting the update is N915TUVU2CPE3.
Samsung Galaxy Note 4 with the model numbers N910TUVU2DPE3 and N910T3UVU1DPE3 is also receiving the Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 update. The Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 update is releasing in a gradual manner for all the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and Note 4 users, according to the T-Mobile Support web site. It will eventually reach all the users in the United States in a fortnight.
The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and Note 4 users can check their devices to see if they are prompted for an update or not. To do so, they need to go to Settings> About Phone> Check for Software Update. Some users may need to wait for the Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 update whereas the others will get it immediately.
The Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 update is around 1.5GB in size, so the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge users may need to free up some space on their device. They are also advised to download the latest update on an unmetered and stable Wi-Fi connection.
Alternatively, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge users can also download the Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 update on their phone's network but as they would incur very high data charges, so is not recommended. It is important to note that the download process should be completed in one shot else the device can get bricked and the user stands the risk of losing the local data on the device.
Users should also check the battery levels of the device before starting the download process. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge devices need to be plugged into a power source if the battery levels are below 50 percent before initiating the download process.
Android Marshmallow comes with support for the fingerprint scanner and USB Type-C port. It also has customized permissions for the apps and a new Settings app, according to BGR.
