HTC 10 is a powerful handset that can compete with Samsung Galaxy S7 and the LG G5 in terms of performance. However, the Taiwanese tech giant HTC has not swayed the smartphone market as reports suggest that its HTC 10 is struggling for sales.

In a recent report by Trend Force, the universal market research firm, it was revealed that Chinese smartphone brands would continue to substantial increase their production level through the rest of the year. Huawei, Oppo, and Vivo are expected to sustain their strong market performance.

On the contrary, HTC is expected to have a production volume of 1 million units only for the HTC 10. There is stiff competition from the aforementioned Chinese brands.

The issue most probably is not because of any shortcomings in technology of the smartphone, according to WCCF Tech. As a reminder, HTC 10 comes with a 5.2-inch quad-HD display, 4GB of RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, a 3000mAh battery, and an expandable memory of up to 2TB. These great features should propel the phone up the ladder in terms of sales.

A major problem with HTC and is handsets is the fact that they have safe design with lackluster features. The HTC 10 price tag of $700 could be a determining factor in the poor sales, since clients run to buy high-end gadgets of more popular brands at the same price.

The hardships that the Taiwan-based firm is facing could be the reasons why it started a subsidiary for the HTC Vive virtual reality headset. The device is reportedly performing considerably well as compared to the HTC's smartphone venture.

With the founding of HTC Vive Tech Corporation, engineers and managers working on the HTC Vive will concentrate entirely on the gaming and entertainment sector, where the VR headset will operate. Furthermore, investors interested in supporting the HTC Vive will have nothing to worry them.

The manufacturer is hoping that HTC Vive will get it out of the terrible situation that results from the underperformance of HTC's smartphones, according to Phone Arena. As opposed to shifting its focus entirely on the HTC Vive, the tech giant is still hoping to recover in the smartphone market.

HTC has been chosen by Google to make Nexus M1 "Marlin" and S1 "Sailfish," a partnership that will yield great benefits for HTC. Here is footage for more information on HTC 10:
