CD Projekt Red has finally confirmed that there will be a The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Game of the Year Edition that would hopefully be released before the year ends.

Initial reports have spotted The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt GOTY Edition in leaked filings for the German ratings board. It showed that the new edition will be launched for the PC, PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.

Unfortunately, it seems that CD Projekt RED will not be making the game's version for the PlayStation Neo and the Microsoft Xbox Scorpio. The backward compatibility will take care of it but there will be no support for 4K textures.

CD Projekt RED has finally confirmed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Game of the Year Edition as game director Konrad Tomaszklewicz told Eurogamer that "plans are in motion" for the said edition of their popular title.

Tomaszklewicz said in the statement: " We'll release more details, including the release date, in the future. In the meantime, I'd like to thank every fan of the game for their support - you're really amazing!"

The developer has already released two expansions for The Witcher 3 which added more content to the game. Blood and Wine and Hearts of Stone were added to give players more to explore and to experience.

There are speculations that the GOTY edition of the game is expected to be released on August 26 but the latest could be in the year's holiday season, Digital Trends reported. It may be the last edition or expansion to be released as CD Projekt RED is now working on Cyberpunk 2077 and Gwent: The Witcher which is a spinoff from the main franchise.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt certainly deserves a GOTY edition as there have been 251 Game of the Year awards given to the title. It has also sold more than 6 million units since it was launched in 2015.

Both Hearts of Stone and the Blood and Wine DLC add over 40 hours of more Witcher 3. They would certainly keep a player occupied for days on end to finish the main story plus the expansion packs.

Players will have to wait for the release date of The Witcher 3 GOTY Edition from Projekt RED. The inclusions would hopefully be announced soon as well.
