"The X Factor" will be back in August 2016 and here is some great news for fans who have been wondering about the off-screen developments.

According to the Express, the filming for the "Six Chair Challenge" has begun and the categories that each judge has been assigned has also come to the fore. This year a new round has been introduced and it gives the live audience a chance to watch the contestants in action. It has been made possible because the initial auditions as well as the Boot Camp are taking place behind closed doors.

Therefore, those who attended the first round of Six Chair shooting have been informed about the mentors and their categories. TellyMix states that Simon Cowell has been made in-charge of the Girls, which is quite a historic thing as it has happened for the first time ever on the show.

Interestingly, the last time he had a female under his tutelage, he won the show. Together with Leona Lewis, he emerged victorious in 2006. In addition, the USA version saw him mentoring the Girls in the first season and at that time too, he won with Melanie Amaro.

As for the other judges, Nicole Scherzinger has been again assigned the Boys group and she also shares a glorious past with her present group. In 2012, she bagged the top 2 positions with Jahmene Douglas and James Arthur. What is more, she owns the distinction of introducing Ryan Clark to the singing world. He finished fifth in the same year and is now hosting "The Xtra Factor."

Sharon Osbourne is also repeating her group and she has been assigned the same lot that she had in 2013. The Overs are under her mentorship and it would be interesting to see if she can repeat her victory this year as well. 2013 saw her winning the show with Sam Bailey. Lastly, Louis Walsh is taking over the Groups for the sixth time in his 12 series stint on the show.
