Actor Song Joong Ki, 30, has a new big drama offer on his plate. The Hallyu star, who become one of the in-demand actors after his role in KBS2's "Descendants of the Sun," is being courted to headline the upcoming Chinese drama called "You, The Scent of Love" (working title).

On July 9, Saturday, Chinese media outlet Sina.com reported that the Hallyu star is receiving a lot of love calls from various projects in China. Specifically, Song has been named as the possible male lead in the Korean-Chinese joint production, "You, The Scent of Love," Soompi reported.

While nothing is set in stone yet, Song will most likely act alongside Chinese actress Zheng Shuang, 24, in the drama. The drama's production is said to involve some of the production staff from "Descendants of the Sun" and will reportedly be produced by NEW.

"Aside from 'Battleship Island,' no other projects have been confirmed," Blossom Entertainment in a press statement obtained by All K-pop.  [Song Joong Ki] is currently receiving a lot of offers from both Korea and China but he hasn't decided on any project. We have to look more carefully into the offer from 'You, the Scent of Love.'"

A representative from Blossom Entertainment added that the actor has not yet decided on his next project, noting that a Chinese debut would have to wait until he wraps up the historical period film "Battleship Island."

Helmed by Ryoo Seung-Wan, "Battleship Island" recently began filming on June 17 in Cheongju, South Korea and will presumably take around six to seven months. In the film, Song will portray Park Moo Young, who belongs to the Korean Independence group.

For his new soldier role, Song is expected to undergo a stunning transformation. Speaking before a predominantly Korean crowd, the actor revealed that he is currently on a strict diet with an end goal to appear more masculine and mature, as well as to make his body shape fit the character. He is also expected to shave his hair bald for the film.

The highly anticipated film, which also stars So Ji Sub, Hwang Jung Min, and Lee Jung Hyun, recounts the story of 400 exploited Koreans who risk their lives trying to escape Hashima Island during the 1940s. The film is scheduled to be released in theaters across South Korea in early 2017. Check out the video below:
