Oculus Rift pre-orders from several months back before have now been resolved as they are shipped which means that the company is now back on track with their shipments.
The company has claimed earlier that they did not expect certain component shortages in their supply line which led to the delayed shipments. Oculus Rift headsets are now back in stock and users can expect to receive their orders in less than a week after they have made the purchase.
Oculus has apologized for the delay in the shipments and thanked customers for their patience. It could have been one of the many reasons why more people have preferred the HTC Vive VR headset over the Oculus Rift.
Pre-orders of Oculus Rift headsets were expected to be delivered in early April but the shortage has delayed the shipments until recently when the company was able to clear their backlogs, PC Magazine has learned. The company just waived the fees of those who ordered the headset when the delays began.
Another problem that Oculus Rift customers have faced is the lack of the special controller. The headsets ship out with just a wireless Xbox One gamepad which does not contribute to the VR experience overall.
HTC Vive has two motion controllers and two camera sensors that allow the device to locate where the user is inside a closed room. It adds more depth to immersion of the VR experience compared to the Oculus Rift.
Oculus Rift headsets are also expected to be demoed in over 500 Best Buy Stores across the United States, Pocket-lint reported. The company is hoping to attract more buyers by showing off what the VR headset can do.
Besides Best Buy stores, there will also be other retail shops and certain Microsoft concept stores that will carry the demo units. Oculus will also reveal their Touch controller for the headset during their Oculus Connect 3 conference that will be held between October 5 and October 7 in San Jose, California.
Users are expecting that the Oculus Rift Touch controllers will bring a much needed advantage for the headset against HTC Vive. However, more users are anticipating a price drop for both VR headsets considering that they are still expensive.
