Michigan State Spartans cornerback Jermaine Edmondson claimed that Draymond Green choked and punched him prior to Green's arrest for assault on Sunday. Green, the Golden State Warriors All-Star power forward and current Team USA member, was arrested in downtown East Lansing for charges of simple assault and was jailed before being released on a $200 bond.

It was revealed that Sunday's incident between the two parties was not the first time. In a copy of the police report obtained by Yahoo! Sports, Edmondson, in his statement to the police, detailed that his first encounter with Green happened on Friday, July 8 when Green allegedly bumped into him inside a bar. Edmondson claimed that he was "choked out" by two companions of Green, before his girlfriend was also choked by another companion.

The following night, Edmondson and Green crossed paths in Conrad's Grill. The football player alleged that he went over to Green to talk to him about the previous night, before Green supposedly poked him on the shoulder and suddenly punched him across his jaw. Police officer Jeff Horn was in the area and described seeing and hearing an open slap. Green was then arrested.

While being led to the patrol car immediately following the arrest, Green apparently indicated that he was sorry and wanted to make things right. Edmondson said that he was not injured and originally did not want to press charges, but changed his mind, saying that he would like to take "further action." Green reportedly had a blood-alcohol level of 0.10 and was not released until he was deemed sober.

Green himself believes that the matter will be resolved promptly. In an interview posted on ESPN Tuesday, Green admitted that he cannot put himself in "certain situations" being a public figure. He went on to say that his attorneys will handle the legal side of the situation and that he will learn from the incident and move on.

Green, a Michigan native and a Michigan State alumnus, played for the Spartans from 2008 to 2012. He could possibly be sentenced to a maximum 93 days in prison and a fine of $500.
